Tues 2/24 - Aliso may have lost round two of CIF, but they were champions to the thousands of fans that packed the Wolverine gym. Number one ranked Etiwanda played to their ranking status not opening the door for the Wolverines to make a move. Michael Roll finished the season with another great game as higher scorer with 19 points. The fans got their first look at JV Tyler Zanolli, Sophomore Shane Seymour, and Freshman Brett Krill playing at the Varsity Level! Congratulations to Coach Barnett and his staff, and to the Varsity team!

The Wolverines won their round one CIF game against Santa Ana Valley. Aliso made it all happen with excellent defense, capitalizing on turnovers, and even making several break away baskets. Aliso's defense stepped it up in Q2 having their first quarter ever this season with no points scored against them, putting the Wolverines up 16 points at the half. Santa Ana Valley never caught up. As Dr. Salter put it, "We jumped on Santa Ana very quickly. They had no answers for Xavier Gardener's corner jumpers, Terence Green's quickness off the dribble or Mike Roll's inside moves. The Wolverine defense led by Brown and Amir Yazdani rendered Santa Valley's top scorer ineffective and dispatched them fairly easily." Aliso faces Etiwanda next Tuesday at Aliso for CIF Round Two action.

The packed stands along with the band cheered the players non stop as they put on an unbelievable performance on their home court. Congratulations to Coach Barnett in his first season as head coach and best of luck in CIF !

Fri 1/16 - The Wolverines won in a dramatic finish in overtime giving Foothill their 2nd loss of Seaview League Play. Aliso trailed by as much as 12 points going into the 4th quarter, and just "turned it on" with just 5 minutes to go in the game. The determination and fire became apparent as they made some key baskets and capitalized on a few turnovers. The Wolverines tied it up at the buzzer at the end of this contest for the 4th time this year, so the Wolverines found themselves in an OT situation once again. Xavier made the winning basket with 3 seconds left in overtime. The stands, filled with Aliso parents and over 25 students cheering them on, just emptied out as all of the Aliso students ran on to the floor and raised Xavier up off the floor and carried him in their celebration.

1/9 - Seaview League Opener .... If Aliso could have added 60 more seconds to the clock, the outcome of this game may have been different as Woodbridge gave the Wolverines their first loss in league play. Down 20 points in Q4, Aliso made an unbelievable comeback in the last few minutes of play outscoring the Warriors by 12 points narrowing the lead to 6 points with 6 seconds left. Unfortunately, the points added back on the scoreboard by intentional fouls to gain ball control during the last 60 seconds, gave the Warriors the cushion needed for this win. Michael Roll sunk 4 3-pointers in an exciting finish, with Gardner and Wise with 1 apiece. Woodbridge's Burgess scored 31 points.

1/6 - It was so apparent on the floor that Aliso truly wanted to win this game. Just 8 days ago, they lost to Tesoro by 2 points (53-51) in the Century High School Tournament on 12-29-03. After trailing 6 to 10 points for most of the game, Aliso came from behind and won by 2 points. Everyone contributed with John Wise being high scorer with 17 points. With determination shown all over their faces and in their actions, the Wolverines came out the winner this time.

12/20 - Wolverines win Consolation Bracket Championship Game finally taking down Trabuco Hills in the Anaheim Holiday Classic!!! If there could have been a game of the week for Aliso, this would have been the one. Aliso's defense shut down Trabuco Hills in a stunning first quarter allowing only one basket that came with just 25.1 seconds left. Brown started Aliso's scoring drive with the first basket of the game. Green, Roll, Wise, Brown all put in 2 baskets, and Yazdani with one giving the Wolverines a 17 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. The second quarter, Griffen scored a couple baskets, with Green, Yazdani, Brown and Wise racking up more points to give the Wolverines a huge lead at half time. Q3 the hot defense continued, while Griffen sunk another 2 buckets. Q4 the strong defense continued while Peterson, Kuehn, Flemings, Conner, and Valentine put their first points for the evening on the board.

After two overtime periods Aliso Niguel prevailed by one point 73-72 after leading by as much as 31-19 at halftime. The Aliso Niguel fan/parent support continues to be as strong as ever with tonight being no exception. Led by the vocal strength of Rick Roll and Gary Brown and a supporting cast of Tony Valentine and Ed Brown the officials never had a chance. On the court, the Wolverines were led by the overpowering play of Michael Roll. Playing with 4 fouls with the 4th obtained midway thru the 4th quarter, he finished the night with a game (season/career) high of 32 points.
